just curious how many folks out there have phantoms? i am looking for rigging tips. i recently got a 84 model and it is awsome. real stable and fast. i can stand up in it and walk around and sail it.
thanks
i can't stay on my boat, slicked it up so much that i am sliding all over. i am thinking about mounting some closed cell foam pads around the cockpit for comfort and a little more fanny grip. looking at a sleeping bag ground pad and cutting it to fit, velcro it down or silicone it in place...
i built a neat cradle for my boat using large pool noodle attached to cross beam. nice and cushy. i guess i have about 10 bucks in it. used plastic zip ties to secure it.
ok this is really dumb, but should the gooseneck circle face the port or starboard side of the fish. next question should the halyard line be in front of the gooseneck or back behind the gooseneck (nearest the cockpit). what side of the sail should the mast pole be? port or starboard. thanks
i must be a magnet for old sail boats that are missing everything. ok i have a hull and rudder asemebly. need everything else. this is a plastic boat. used would be great. thanks
ok i am going out for the 4th weekend in a row. i am ready to begin to work on the techniques. can you recommend a few sail exercises that i should work on for a begginer or goals to try to achieve. at this point i have been having fun just trying to catch wind.
ok last post for the night. i am not sure how snug the sail ties need to be when you attach the sail to the boom. i tried the 2 figure 8 knots and it seemed to loose.
i put a couple of nylon zip ties on my lower boom to help hold the mainsheet out way. i read that suggestion and it really works well. well i had a extra zip tie and i put it on the upper boom next to the halyard clove hitch and it seem to work well in stoping it from creeping. looks good to.
well today it finally came together. my 1 year long refurbishing of a 74 alcort finally paid off. man i have never sailed a fish before and it was beyond my expectations. i truley have been bit by the sail bug. the boat worked great and one fellow at the boat ramp actually thought it was a new...
ok i know that we are supposed to stay focused on SF but i had a deal that i could not say no to. Free. ok here is the situation good hull and and everything but a rudder / tiller and daggerboard. owner cannot locate these items. boat includes a decent trailer. so can i get these items or is it...
What does the hole bottom need to look like on a 74 model . mine seems to be broken. i have a half ring and half cracked mess. I am considering mixing a little expoxy and pouring it in to level of ring to try to seal it. i do not think it is leaking into hull yet because tube will fill up with...
ok dumb question of the week. what is the brass hook looking thing behind the slot for the dagger board just inside the lip of the cockpit? what is its function?
thanks

ok i am getting close to being ready to launch this 12 month project boat. is anyone willing to give a little instruction on how to rig and sail it. i am located near atlanta?
thanks
I am considering a boat dolly that is being sold through LL Bean for 100.00. has anyone used this type dolly before? looks well made but not sure how it would go through sand. thanks
