Upgrades to my old Sunfish

Well, the plan is to take Artemis II out this Sunday for the first sail of 2015. I've made a few upgrades since the last time I had her out.

Proper drain plugs instead of corks:


A cleat attached to the mast:


A universal tiller extension:


I've rigged the boat a couple of times in my back yard and have really come to appreciate the mast cleat. It makes raising the sail much easier.

This may be obvious, but do tie the tail end of the halyard to the cleat on the deck.

After I secure the halyard to the mast cleat I run it through the fairlead, over the gooseneck, back through the fairlead, and then secure it to the deck cleat.
