Italian Sunfish in the UK

I am the proud owner of an Italian manufactured Sunfish here in the United Kingdom. I only started sailing a few months back (aged 47) and am loving every minute of it. Over here in the UK the Sunfish is a rare boat but it makes a talking point for all the sailing club members as most have never seen one before.
Just one question though. If I want to point the boat higher into the wind when I beat is the only option to have the boom low. I`m not really built for limbo dancing. If there is any other advice them I`m all ears.

You can get a quick release for the goose neck to adjust sail fore and aft to match wind conditions, this will improve beating and other points of sail.
