Hi there, yesterday my SuperSpars boom broke during a sailing session. It snapped after about 15 minutes on a half-wind course, just after the point where the vang is connected to the boom. It is a relatively new aluminium boom (not the old round booms but a rectangular one, something like 10 years old), and I have sailed in much heavier winds before, so I am not sure how/why this happened. I only sail on fresh water, and the boom is stored inside after each session. I'm an experienced sailor and have personally never heard of something like this happening. Therefore, I am curious whether other people have experienced this or might know of a possible cause. The only thing I can think of is metal fatigue, but I would expect more longevity. Thanks in advance.
