Thanks for the reply Tom,
Can you tell me what would you include with the boat?

Hello all.
I live in the Metroplex (Dallas - Fort Worth area) and want to race at the NA's.
I am looking for a boat to charter with all the equipment. The only thing I have is my sail number, line, ratchet and....that's it. Don't care about the age of the hull as far as is dry and hard...
The TackTick T061 is a digital compass with a watch on it. No deep sounder, no speedo, just the compass. It is approved by many One Desgin Classes that are seriously thinking about going ahead with better racing.

Indeed a wristwatch clock with compass is not going to help you much. It is better to open a port hole in front of the daggerboard trunk and use a classic racing compass.
Anyway I am still amazed how come that class does not allow a digital compass on board, like a Tactick. If we want to keep...
Playing the gooseneck, you can still survive in 35 knots of true wind speed. If you are too heavy, you might break the mast going upwind.
Maxi Jens, gooseneck all the way back and full vang may allow you to keep the performance of the boat during the upwind leg.

The Harken Ratchamatic 57 mm works really good.
It will engaged the ratchet function as soon as it feels enough pressure. It can be set up with an Allen wrench , so you decide when is time to make it work.
The part number is Harken 2135
I found the best price in this place...
Glad that you are doing so.
You are right you got to start sailing on dinghies and then jump to bigger things. But better later than never.
The most important thing you will need to learn first on these boats is to manga your weight. Whatever you do don't sit back. The boats is going to...
Welcome, Snow.
In fact the Phantom is a Lateen Rig, with a heavier hull thatn the Sunfish. The way it has to be sailed is the same as the Sunfish. Only bad thing I can tell is that unfortunately for you there is no Phantom acitve class racing. Anyway the tips and information you will obtain...
First thing to do is to check with Water and Soap.
Mak bubbles and get a little air pump. Pump a little of air thru the drain plug and spread water with soap, you'll see bubbles growing. Mark the spots where the bubbles are and work on them.
The keel problem is common on this sailboats. I...
Side to Side.
That's the best.
Try to get the biggest SS washers to put underneath. Also use Safety Nuts (The ones that have a plastic ring to help stay in place).
Hope this helps

In terms of weight. You are just a little above, but it will be helpfull during mid-heavy wind conditions. Play the goosenck, move it forward to a max of 13 inches. It will increase the power of the sail big time.
About the sail....get rid of it. I know them.
Get a Racing North Class...
