I'm reading The Complete Introduction to Laser Racing and it says in light wind adjust the cunningham to "speed creases" only.

In medium wind, it says "almost no creases".

The naration doesn't explain what speed creases are. Please help.
Thanks,
scott

its the crease you usually get running from the joint of the two mast sections to the clew

Here are a whole bunch of creases...and wrinkles...and stretch marks...and these sails are just a few days old!!!

Great pic. So when the book Intro. to Laser Racing says adjust the cunningham to speed creases only in light wind, I'm suppose to have those wrinkles? Seems like you would want a sail with out the wrinkles in light wind.

Perhaps a better way of understanding it is to know what the cunningham does, then relate that to how it looks on your sail when you change the setting. As you've just discovered, you'd think an "introduction" to anything would spell certain things out.

it pretty much means use no cunningham in light wind and the wrinkles are usually seen midsail that go all the way back to the leech. it will make your sail fuller which will make you go faster.
