Vang primary line

i am replacing my primary Vang line as it is to short and am slightly confused by the variety of legnthes recommended on the web. i was wondering if any one knew the length recommended by laser performance or alian as that's the kicker i have. also how would i use a pre spliced one.

If you're using the standard 3 x 5 vang configuration, then the primary line length isn't that critical - that's probably why different sources give slightly different numbers. If your old line is too short, figure out how much it is too short, measure the line, add the numbers up and head to the chandlery. 1.5 metres should be enough, 1.3 to 1.4 is probably the right range.

A pre-spliced line has a spliced loop at each end, and (at least) the other loop should be big enough to let through the block that you're tying it to, so you can use a lark's head (a "luggage tag") knot at both ends. Alternatively you can of course use shackles, or any other attachments your blocks might have.
