Turkey Shoot Regatta -> Sacramento, CA -> Sat. 11/23

Thread starter #1
The Lake Washington Sailing Club is hosting our annual Turkey Shoot Regatta on Saturday, November 23rd 2002. Lake Washington is the turning basin for the Port of Sacramento and is the best place to sail in the Sacramento area due to our consistent Delta breeze and friendly sailors. Our facilities include a clubhouse with a large covered deck, a launch ramp, grass area with picnic tables, and an 800 lb. capacity hoist. This regatta is open to all trailerable, centerboard sailboats under 19ft length. We're expecting a good contingent of Lasers.

Schedule for the Day

9:00a.m. Registration begins in the clubhouse
10:00a.m Skipper’s Meeting on the deck of the clubhouse
10:45a.m. First Warning
2:00p.m. Conclude racing (approximately) followed by awards

Entry & Fees

The entry fee is $20 US with a $2 discount for US Sailing Members. The entry fee will cover all racing and regatta awards. The completed entry form, including the signed waiver and release of liability statement, and the entry fee must be received at the LWSC office by November 13th or a late fee of $10 will apply.

We should be able to get in three to six short course races depending on wind conditions. Racing will be held under the 2001 to 2004 US Sailing Rules of Sailing and one-design class rules except as amended by the sailing instructions. Protests are strongly discouraged but will be heard and ruled upon if filed within the time limit established in the sailing instructions.

Scoring & Classes

Five boats will constitute a class and can receive a class start. Boats not able to field enough entries to receive a class start will sail in a Portsmouth division.
Trophies will be awarded as follows:
Five to Six starters 1 award
Seven to Nine 2 awards
Ten or more starters 3 awards
Trophies will be awarded as soon as possible after the last race is completed.

The Lake Washington Sailing Club is located in West Sacramento at the Port of Sacramento. Coming from San Francisco take Interstate 80 East and continue east toward South Lake Tahoe (do not take the I-80 exit toward Reno). Take the next exit, Harbor Blvd exit, then turn left onto Harbor Blvd at the top of the exit ramp. Stay straight on Harbor Blvd through two lighted intersections and proceed straight to the main entrance of the Port of Sacramento where Harbor Blvd ends at Industrial Blvd. After going through the harbor gate, drive to the water, veer to the right across the railroad tracks and proceed down the dirt road to the club.
