Traveller question

I am new to the sunfish and have a question about how the traveller is supposed to be rigged. The one I have has a three loop wire bridle. Is the "traveller"meant to be a free running block on a single long wire or rope attached to the pad eyes? I'm used to a traveller that has a positionable shuttle car so I'm wondering if this one is just supposed to run free. Is there any advantage to that over the fixed loop for the main sheet clip?

As stated in that thread, racers nowadays prefer a no-loop traveler/bridle, but the issue is of no great relevance to the casual sailor. The Sunfish had three loop bridles, like the one on your boat, for several decades.
