Trailer Ball Size?

I'm looking at a laser with a trailer tomorrow. Problem is, the owner doesn't know what size ball the trailer takes, nor the model of trailer it is. It looks like most trailers of that size are 1-7/8". Is it safe to assume this is the size I'll need?

pretty safe.. Normally don't find 2" balls until you are pulling over 2000 lbs.

Usually the hitch/ball size is stamped right on the front of the trailer

Most likely 1 and 7/8"

But the weirder the trailer, the greater the chance that it's a 2"

Depending on how inconvenient it will be to have the wrong ball, you might want to come prepared with both.

If it is a European trailer, then the ball is 50 mm, which is slightly less than 2".
