Tiller extension

I just bought a Battlestick and it can with no instructions on how to mount it. I wonder if bolting it through the tiller handle is right or just use wood screws to secure it. I think bolting it would work better so it would not pull a part while sailing.

No universal? A tiller extension typically is connected to a universal. The universal is mounted on the tiller with screws.

The tip is flexable with 2 holes drilled through the base, is this the unverisal?

The Battle stick came with that part already mounted. I sure appreciate the help.
