Ha ha, thats creative.
The photo was taken some time ago (Easter 1982) at Lake Bolac in central Victoria. There was not a lot of breeze and we had already paddled a laser hull around for a while and also put a windsurfer rig on for a bit of fun. We had a few spare sails and spars laying around and one thing lead to another. A boom was tied to the mast and to the bow fitting. The 'headsail' was attached to the end of the boom and to the top of the mast. We originally tried having the sail in the right orientation, ie with the luff at the front but we could not get enough tension on it, hence it was reversed with the leech first. We ran the sheets back through the traveller and off we went. A word of warning, anything over 5kts might lead to disaster; best to use old gear or better still, someone eles's. I have some other photo's somewhere of mast climbs and laser windsurfing. I'll post them when I can find them.
