Is there a limit to the number of thimbles you can use on the different lines on a Sunfish?

from the class rules http://www.sunfishclass.org/ISCA_CLASS_RULES_10052006.pdf :

It is permissible to use a thimble, or similar device without moving parts, tied into the purchase loops to prevent chafing of adjustable outhauls. This device shall not be attached to the boom.

Note the use of the word "a" and the singular of the noun "thimble".
