Tear In Sail!!

I just recently bought a new radial sail and whille i was feeding it into the mast it ripped!! how do i fix this? will it affect my downhaul/point?:(
 
If is was on the tube then dont worry too much, the tube of my standard sail have several small rips and tears in it. If you believe there is a fault in the cloth then take it back and get a replacement (and be careful when rigging, most damage on the mast tube of a Laser sail is caused by it being rigged on a rough surface.
 
Sail tape's what I use on little minor tears in the sleeve of the sail that slips over the mast. Works great. None of my tears are over, say, half an inch long.
