Sunfish with no bailer

Long story short...I teach sailing camp using our clubs boats. One of our sunfish does not have a bailer. The cockpit floor and hull are void of any signs that a bailer ever existed on this boat. There is no hole. The boat has the storage compartment aft of the cockpit and has no serial number on the transom. This would mean the boat was made between 71 and 73. I know the plastic bailer replaced the metal one in 72, but was there a period in there where the boat had no bailer.
I'm just curious because I have never seen another sunfish like this.
