Sunfish vs Laser

hi i need to make a decision:
1982 laser great condition
vs.
older sunfish...
i am interested in sailing around my lake and in the cape cod bay as well as racing in the nest season

With respect to your desire to race, I would find out whether there are active Sunfish and Laser fleets around your neck of the waters and make a decision based upon that info.
