Cedar Point YC in Westport, CT is holding the 25th annual Hangover Bowl Jan 1 - racing starts around noon or whenever you get your hungover butt in your boat and out on the water.

The regatta is not your conventional series of races. Read last year's writeup for a taste of what it's like. Cedar Point YC in Westport, CT is holding the 25th annual Hangover Bowl Jan 1 - racing starts around noon or whenever you get your hungover butt in your boat and out on the water.

The really important stuff - There is NO ENTRY FEE - Nada, Zilch, Zero. And there are really decent prizes. In the past, we have had Rooster Gear, booze (in case you didn't have enough the night before) T Shirts etc.... And you even get fed some decent food after racing.

If you want to race, but don't have a boat, send me a private message, I will try and help you out.

It looks like good fun, but I notice from the results that no women sail in it. Why is that? You don't make them run naked through the parking lot if they lose (to quote Gouvernail), do you?

You'll need to check in with the sisterhood on that one. We have no crazy rituals for anyone other then the first place finisher of each race.

The lure of sailing in Miami or skiing in Vermont does keep the numbers down though.

Geez you guys are fast! I just finished WRITING the NOR, and posting it to the Cedar Point site. Came here to post a link, and it is already done! Here is the email going out to the troops:

Laser Sailors!

Monday, January 1 the CPYC Laser Fleet will host the 25th Annual Hangover Bowl, one of the longest running Laser regattas in the world.

The Notice of Race is here: http://www.cedarpointyc.org/uploads/Hangover_Bowl_07.pdf

We have just completed our Laser Fall Series, with 136 people competing, averaging over 50 boats on the starting line each race. You are invited to view our Fleet website, which has results, lots of reports (a.k.a. "Words Of Wisdom"), and many photos. We also have a link to the new website of the Newport Laser Fleet, and their awesome video from last Sunday. Scroll down to the Library section and see some of our sailors in Japan last month, reuniting with one who raced with us in the 1980s.

Well, it rained, we had fog and the wind was light and spotty until it completely disappeared, but that didn't dampen the spirits of 20 Laser sailors (and at least half that amount volunteering on RC and support boats) determined to sail into 2007.

On the positive side, it was unseasonably warm for Jan (hence the fog), we had a great time on the water and on shore, the chili was hot and spicy (if you catch my drift, well on second thought that might be a bad idea) and we had more t-shirts and more prizes then we had competitors. A big thanks to our supporters:
The Boat Locker
JDE Marine
Depot Liquors
Rex Marine
H.J. Hoffman
and the CPYC Laser Fleet

(take a look at the results and all the booty they handed out here):

Consider yourselves lucky though.... We had some thirty boats for the Potomac River Sailing Association Hangover Regatta, ready to rumble. But it rained and when that stopped, there was no wind:mad:
