News Sanjl 2007

On Saturday, May 12, HSC hosted 39 sailors for SANJL Day 1 on Spruce Run. It was a warm day, with very challenging, light, shifty conditions. RC Chair Elliot Zimmerman did a nice job setting and changing the modified Olympic courses to keep the races fair.

HSC members dominated the regatta by taking eight of the top ten overall places. Derek Jackson won top honors in the Championship division. He was followed closely by Steve Manson and Doug Brown in second and third. In the Challenger division, Susan Mallows bested seventeen competitors. Sixteen year old Nathan Altomare convincingly won the third race of the regatta and was scratching on Susan's heels in second. It was wonderful to have Dick Heinel travel from eastern Long Island to round out the top three.
