rules for placing a name on your boat?

Hi,

I have been asked by a friend if there are any rules regarding the placement of the name of her boat on the hull?

I told her afaik she can put the name anywhere on the hull, provided it doesn't cover the sticker thingie with the serial number/etc on [which i don't believe she has anyway].

Is this correct or do the class rules extend to this as well?

Placing a name on the boat has become quite an obstacle for most of the fleet...especially our officers.
As our fleet becomes more and more geriatric, a common exchange has become:

"Who was the guy who rounded with us at that last leeward mark?"

"I dunno. He is familiar looking but I can't place the name."
