Question on Radial Tuning Article

I was setting up my boat and marking off the line for the outhaul by the Radial Tuning Article on the NA website. But, I ended up not marking anything because I didn't know if the article meant to measure the "1 fist, 2 fist" from the end of the boom or the eye for the outhaul. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks.

Neither.

It's a rough measurement from mid boom to the foot of the sail. ie the foot of the sail is one fist width away from the boom, or two fists....
 
Thanks, that clears it up a lot. So he's talking about sail depth not distance from the end of the boom, thanks for clearing that up.
