I have a Phantom with a small crack in the hull near the chine on the starboard side, fore and aft even with the footwell. I'm planning on installing an inspection port to make this fix. The easiest location for access to the damaged area would be on the starboard vertical face of the footwell. Is there any reason not to put the port here? Strength? Would I find a foam block under what amounts to the deck seat impeding my access to the damaged area? I think I would be able to reach the backing plate for the main sheet block as well as the plate for the hiking strap, and those are two other areas I'd like to make tweaks. I assume a port here would help in drying out nearly as well as a port in front of the daggerboard case?
I appreciate your advice.
Thanks.
