older wooden c/board and rudder

I've got a line on an older boat. I notice it has the older looking boards, all finished wood. Assuming that the parts are in good condition, not dinged or water swelled, is there any reason these wouldn't perform as well as newer gear?

Thanks

If you are asking specifically about the blades, the general opinion is the orginal wooden blades (especially the daggerboard) perform better then the foam blades that replaced them - they were thicker in cross section and stiffer. This is the main reason that you are only allowed to use them in hulls that came with them as original equipment.

I have a wooden set. They're definately stiffer. Heavier... but stiffer. I practice with them and save the foam ones for raceday.
