New centerboard brake

So I am a little confused here, if you buy the new brake do you have to drill new holes so that it fits ok?? I am considering buying but I dont want to drill holes on my hull.

I have one sitting in front of me. According to the instructions you don't need to drill new holes. Just use the supplied screw in place of the old ones.

I just installed a new centerboard brake on my 1976 laser and the holes lined up fine, and it is certainly an improvement over the old cracked rubber brake.

From what I have read on the Forum, only buy the new brake if the old one is (really) bad...

It seems to depend on a lot of factors. If yours fits and makes contact with the board on the original holes then go ahead and fit it.

If it does not then you need to re-drill the holes.

I still have not got around to fitting mine yet, it will be done shortly. I had a bigger issue with a split in the cockpit floor caused by my big heavy feet bouncing off the wrong part....
