An update from LPE
Why is LaserPerformance still not an approved ILCA Builder?
Many Laser sailors have contacted LP and asked why LP has not signed the ILCA Builder’s Agreement, reappointing LP as a Laser Builder. We take this opportunity to update you on the latest developments. In mid-August 2019 the World Council of World Sailing voted for Laser to be the single-handed...www.laserperformance.global
No - that was (if I've understood it right) about LP having not paid Kirby his contractual royalties. This is LP offering the "Laser" trademark(s) to new builders in "their" region for free. They're trying to play the role of the nice guy again, but don't realize that the name is irrelevant now that the "vote" went the way it did. ("Nice" attitude towards the class members to put that word in quotes...)Isn't this what they just lost a massive lawsuit over....??

Oh? Boats built by whom and imported to where and when? How would Kirby have lost millions to LP in that?I believe the ruling was related to the boats being imported with Kirby's name
The only attraction to Zim was having a Laser made is the USA. I’m not interested in buying a boat imported from China.A couple of observations from the latest "progress report": 1) Zim has obviously dropped out as a license holder separate from Zou International Marine (which is where the name comes from, after all) so they won't start building their own boats but import them from China, and 2) A few additional unnamed builders are still in the game.

That would be nice.Jason, I am optimistic about one of the unnamed prospective builders being North American.

Nice- I'm liking it so far!As expected, Devoti is next.
Now the price race is on:

www.ovingtonboats.com/shop/ilca.html
No bargains, but a few interesting differences... like, if you want a Radial/ILCA6 rig, the best deal is to get the spars from Devoti and the sail from Ovington.
The foils, although similar-looking, are likely built in-house by both.

That's the price you pay for class legality. I'd say the "TLC" boat is actually still on the expensive side.In NL a new Laser (for The Laser Class) is now cheaper compared to a 2016 one
They need to announce a new builder for their USA website, because the new www.laser.org sucks!Devoti Sailing s.r.o. (Poland)
Element 6 Evolution Co Ltd (Thailand)
Nautivela srl (Italy)
Ovington Boats Ltd (United Kingdom)
Qindao Zou Inter Marine Co., Ltd (China)
