What do people think about the two events? Why don't more go for Miami? Pros and cons for each event...

I have always been interested in attending miami ocr. It seems to be an event that requires qualification. Is this true or am I just assuming things?
63 boats raced last year and the top end was a who's who of international competition.

Miami is for the very best. Top Europeans show up as well as NA guys. Unless you are a serious contender you will be way, way back in the fleet ie. LAST. (that would be me...)
The Midwinters has lots of snowbirds, youth, and US/Canada talent. Also a tough regatta but not on the level of the Miami OCR.
On the other hand, if you want to sail at the OCR all you gotta do is pay the entry fee!
