I have already found some really good threads on mast step repair, so I think I know how to proceed. I have two remaining questions though...
First off, all the articles say to install a stainless disc after the repair; but i just recently installed one already, and in fact, the leak seems to have started after i installed it. Should I try to remove it to repair under it, or leave it be?
Secondly, I noticed that on the bottom of the hull, directly under the mast step, there are small spider cracks originating outwards from the middle of the step area. Anything to worry about? It's a 1982 boat, so I'm not too picky as long as she's solid.
