The mast step leaked. It held about 3/16" of water or so. Held a mirror to the bottom and thought I could see a small hole in the base on the port side. Installed an inspection port on the starboard, dug out all the pookey at the base. Once all the pookey was out (about 1/4" below the donut) I saw the entire base of the step move independently of the column. &*$#@*.
Can a repair be made by sending some epoxy down to the base of the step on the inside as well as runny pour on the outside hoping it flows together? Follow that with a silica pour over that on the outside and finally glass the whole assembly? Or is it a lost cause?
I installed the port about 4" away from the mast step and I'm not sure I'll have room to do a relacement kit, with the deck portion included, without having to repair the hole I cut for the port first.
