Mast Ring (attached to lower boom)

Is the ring that attaches the lower boom to the mast supposed to be tight on the lower boom?

Do anybody know what type of bolt belongs there?

The "ring" should be tight on the lower boom. On older boats the goseneck was threded for a bolt to screw in and tighten it. On newer boats the goseneck is not threded and a small bolt and locknut is used.

The gooseneck is threaded (it's on a Minifish, unsure of the age). Any idea of the size and thread of the bolt? Is there any chance of finding it, or should I just get a smaller bolt and use a locknut?

Go to Home Depot and try 1/4-20.

Go to Home Depot and try 1/4-20.

That worked. I brought both a 1/4 and M6 home, and the 1/4 worked.
