Hello, I'm a floating independant developer and i'm delighted to introduce my first app: "Marine Knots."
My app assists sailors in tying more than 30 knots through interactive animations. It also offers a unique feature: a knot selection helper that guides boaters to the knot suitable for their needs. Whether you prefer step-by-step guidance or continuous scrolling, you'll have complete control over the animations. Knots are organized into categories, you can also search by name, create a list of favorite knots, and more. The app is ad-free and works offline ensuring usability even in the middle of the ocean.
I've fully coded this app aboard my 32' monohull, utilizing a Raspberry Pi 3 powered by solar energy.
I hope this app proves helpful to you! Cheers.
You can find the app on the Apple appstore and Android google play, search for 'Noeuds Marins' or 'Marine Knots'.
@Jeejee. Very cool to do this on the water on solar power no less…. How did you handle the build process for iOS with just a raspberri Pi? Did you utilize Apple’s XCODE cloud service? As far as I known, you can’t sign an apple/iOS app without a Mac or the cloud service.
Hi Bradley ! I coded the app with React Native Expo. Basically the code was on the pie but running on physical devices (impossible to run the dev server and an emulator on Pi 3, I had to use Geany as my IDE, Vs code was too heavy to run along the dev server...). Expo lets you build android and apple files with ease. So its actually possible to publish apple apps without a mac, Expo generates for you all the XCode certificates etc...
