Mainsheet Cleat

My 'fish doesn't currently have a cleat for the mainsheet. I've been looking around at different kinds of quality swivel cleats, but they're all pretty expensive. Would this Ronstan V-cleat work instead?

I guess the downside to this might be that it would be hard to ease the sheet while hiking, since it's stationary and won't swivel. Let me know what you guys think.

Save your money. Real men don't use cleats :D

If you use the Search function (upper bar), you can find a lot more info on this topic.

If you're looking to add V-cleats, get two and mount them on each side. Do not get the fairlead version, get the open top version.

Great saying . . . . . . ;)

I recommend you start off with a ratchet block..., or if good boat equipment stresses your budget at the moment, a simple block.

You can then move to adding outboard cleats or a central swivel when you are more flush.

Wavedancer, I may be less of a man now, but who could pass up such a deal?

A friend of mine came across this swivel cleat, and yesterday I sailed with the new cleat for the first time. It's small, didn't get in the way, but also appears to be very durable and did it's job well. As I couldn't seem to find another swivel cleat that wasn't around $50, I'm very happy with this.
