Laser Racing in Los Angeles area ?

Hello all,

I am currently sailing in Annapolis and I will be moving to Los Angeles for work reassons.

I would like to ask some opinions / advice re: best place to sail/race Laser in Los Angeles ... is it ABYC? / Newport Beach ?

How / Who to contact regarding joining local fleet / clubs?

I'm prejudiced, but if you measure regatta turn-out, I believe Alamitos Bay Yacht Club offers the best dinghy racing conditions in the LA area. One can sail in ocean swells or in the flatter conditons inside Long Beach Harbor. Both areas are a short sail from our launch ramp.

Long Beach, hands down, no comparison.
I moved from Hawaii to Newport, and actually quit sailing for a while because there was never any wind. If only I knew there were great conditions just a few miles up the coast...
Contact Steve or myself when you get into town and we'll get you into ABYC as a guest (and maybe membership if you're interested, we have the only hoists and lauching ramp of all the AB clubs).
