Laser II questions

I have just bought a Laser II, actually as a partial trade for an old Boston Whaler. My questions focus on "what did I get myself into?" I have sailed Lasers and Sunfish as well as bigger boats but never had anything as hot as a Laser II. So here I am at age 62 wondering if I can handle this. Can it be sailed well and fun without using the trapeze? Can one person handle main and jib alone? How does it compare to the regular Laser as far as ease of handling, stability, ease of rigging? Can someone direct me to more information about sailing this boat? Thanks very much !!

It will be a handful solo - but big fun. Tacking without a jib can be challenging in a boat with a mast step as far aft as the yours - the first jib-less day will be spent perfecting avoiding and recovering from irons. Do not avoid the trapeze - it is ultra effective in holding the boat down and much easier on your knees than hiking, plus it is really fun.
Even though it is a bigger classic high performance 2 man dinghy - for all its complexity it has a slightly slower PY handicap number than the painfully simple Laser.
