I recently purchased a Laser 2 that had some repairs done on both lower corners of the transom. Not sure what precipitated the repairs, but when I got the boat both sides of the transom had generous amounts of bondo or fairing compound. The layup of the transom seems very thin to start with and when I sanded off the excess compound, there was one small spot on the transom where the fiberglass actually broke through - just a quarter inch above the corner where the transom meets the bottom. I am not sure how to reinforce this since it is so close to the bottom that I can't really create a bevel - in fact the entire transom seems so thin as to make it difficult to create a bevel anywhere! Currently the boat has very solid decks, and no inspection ports, so I kind of hate to put one in if there is a way to accomplish this repair from the outside. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Scott
