Just got my new sunfish home

If it were a motorcycle, we'd call it a basket case because of all the parts in a basket. I have everything identified, not that much really, but have a really stupid question that, after 30 years of sailing, none in a sunfish, I have to ask:

How do you attach and where do you attach the halyard to the upper boom?
Of all things...I've been down this road with old boats before, but all were marconi rigged, not lateen.

Thanks,

tg,

Go to Vanguard, http://www.teamvanguard.com/2005/base/index.asp and download a copy of the rigging manual from the Sunfish section. Basically, just a clove hitch (or rolling hitch, etc.) around the upper boom, location (per manual) is between the ninth and tenth sail rings or a racing set up at around 106-7" measured from the tack end where the cap/boom meet. The racing set up will have the lower boom really low (just a few inches off the deck). Find a happy place in between and go sail. Place a couple of turns of white electrical tape above the hitch to prevent the halyard from slipping up the boom. Good Luck
