Jury Boats

Here's a problem that I ran into this past summer in Sarnia, Ontario (Sailfest)...

I was yellow flagged during a race and decided to protest the decision, but was immediately told by the fellow on the jury boat not to bother, because "I'm on the protest committe, and you'll loose". Are the members of the jury boats allowed to be members of the protest committe in a regatta? Does this not seem a little biased to anyone else? It was a steady 10+ knot breeze and I was flagged for fanning my mainsail, but in that breeze you are obviously block-to-block. I ended up loosing a 4'th place and getting a DSQ of 39 or something. Bum deal. Anyone have an idea?

Seems like protesting in that circumstance would be like complaining about your wife to your mother-in-law. Bum deal man.
