I believe that a similar system would work if you used a swivel block for
the main halyard and for a single-line reefing system. With long enough
lines, either the skipper or the crew could tuck in a reef quickly and
easily - even single handing. On Snickerdoodle, I can tuck in a reef
(singlehanded) in about a minute all together.
Interesting. Ed, any chance you could get more of a description? It sounds like he suggest running the halyard into the cockpit as well as the reefing line. This way one could let the halyard out a bit and then pull in the reef all while sitting down in the normal position in the boat. Is this right?
Anyone out there done this yet? I might give it a go.
