Here's a tip from Bill Holcomb -
I just read the article in the Mainsheet regarding bulletproofing a
14.2. Here's an idea that might work for the 14.2's for jiffy reefing.
On Snickerdoodle, I use swivel blocks mounted near the bottom of my mast
for single-line reef lines as well as for my cunningham. Here's a link to
the C25/250 website that shows a photo of the bottom of my
mast: http://www.catalina25-250.org/tech/tech25/snkvang.html
I believe that a similar system would work if you used a swivel block for
the main halyard and for a single-line reefing system. With long enough
lines, either the skipper or the crew could tuck in a reef quickly and
easily - even single handing. On Snickerdoodle, I can tuck in a reef
(singlehanded) in about a minute all together.
