Is this stupid?

When i'm sailing on a dead run or by the lee in light/medium winds I lift the centre board up to reduce friction (thats the general rule ok)... Then using that same line of logic why wouldn't you lift the rudder as well? You could keep it down a bit so you have some tiller.

Is this me being really thick?

Is there a rule against it or would it be pointless?

1. Unlike the centreboard (which slides verticaliy) the rudder rotates or swings up and down on the pivot bolt and acts more like an oar in the raised position ....creates lots of drag when steering.

2. If healing...it's worse.

3. Part three 15. (j) states that ...full down unless racing in 1.5 m of water

4. yes...thick and pointless ;)
