How to throw out a sunfish beyond repair?

I have a sunfish that is beyond repair and I need to throw it away and salvage some of its parts, what is the correct way to dispose of it?

It depends on your local landfill policy. In my area, I can take a Sunfish hull to our local landfill and dump it whole (minus parts) for $15
(see photo). Or, I can saw the hull up to small pieces and add it to my weekly trash for no cost. Another option is to give the bare hull away for free to somebody who wants to make a duck hunting punt from the damaged hull.
