Holt vang line

Ok so im going to be cheap and buy the holt vang. Iv used the vang on my friends boat and i felt like the line was too thick. Should i buy a 3mm or 4mm for the cleated line? What is the best type of line for a vang?
 
I use this 4mm for the cleated line and it works well, its lightweight, strong, easy to handle. 3mm might be a little too thin for the cleated line esp in heavy air, I added a tube handle for when the vang needs to be cranked on hard, the handle makes it easier to get "heavy air" vang settings on and also get them off at the top mark
