Hiking pants.... worth it?

hello all y'all....

So, I just picked up a nice pair of magic marine hikers... Havn't used them yet. I'm just wondering if people think they're worth it. I mean, I got them for a steal so I can't complain.

Also.. what do people do for winter? over drysuit? under drysuit? put them away for the winter???

Definitely worth it. I don't like to go sailing at all without them. Even if it's light air, I don't want to be caught without them if the wind comes up.

In the wintertime, I wear them over my wetsuit (don't know about a drysuit). Wasn't too bad for a while, but that was five or ten pounds ago. I'm going to get one of the combination shorty wetsuits/hiking pants, so it will no longer be a concern.
 
Yeah, defently worth it for most.
I sailed a long time without any though and it worked fine for me, untill we had a really long winter one year, after that it just hurt to much without them ;)
