Help - universal joint and Fastec tiller extension

I have a laser Picco with a Fastac ROW tiller extension. The Omniflex universal joint gave way. I have purchased a new joint and was able to remove the old one with a little force and pulling.

My question is how do you get the new one in? I have tried some soap and pushing the best I can to no avail. Any hints or experienced ideas would be appreciated.

I was told to use hair spray, but I used some machine spay oil on the joint and inside the tiller extension. With the joint pushed into a corner and your hand around the opening, just push hard and steady. Don't forget to drill a hole/screw through the shaft and joint. I learned the hard way that it will pull out unless secured.

I found that I had to put the end of the tiller in some hot water and the joint into the freezer. This makes them change size just enough to ensure they fit together easily and once they return to room temparture they are locked together so all you need to do is drill for the securing screw.
