stamped in transom is: IDD4895F888

The way I read it your sail # is 134895 (built in August, 1988).

That makes sense. ZID identifies the manufacturer, which in this case is Laser International (also known as Performance Sailcraft Canada) in Ontario. They built Lasers from 1984-1991.
