foam spar holders

The other day I was shown a foam spar holder that sit atop a laser deck. When I stopped by the local suppy stores no one seemed to know what I was talking about.

The folks at the Marina mentioned a spar deck to holder with a locking mechanism.

So, my question is: does anyone know what the item is called that I am referring to as a foam spar holder, that sits on top of the deck of a laser?

Thanks in advance for the help.

You're probably talking about Spar Partners from Nautical America. Not sure about the availability of these since Ken closed up shop.

I have the 3 spar model. It works okay. There are no bungies or attachments, just foam. I've seen other types that come with some kind of tie down as part of the unit.

I have the 3-spar foam holders and have been happy with them. I like the 4-spar holders, good for a Radial lower or spare upper. I secure them with two bungess, one to the mainsheet block in front and one to the hiking strap eyelets in back.

I had a hard plastic spar holder like this once and didn't like it:

The built-in bungees to hold the spars were too tight, and it was a mess to secure everything to the hull.

These are spar partners. I love them. If you look at the foam cutout (can't see here because the spars are resting in them) they are cut in a teardrop shape which would require the outer spars to roll uphill to "escape" ! Just add bungees as necessary to secure them

They are molded on the underside to fit snuggly on the rear cleat and the forward cunningham/outhaul cam cleat system.

They work and give peace of mind!

good luck, Eric
