First ever laser built

Bruce Kirby, the designer gives an interesting history of the development of the laser in his forward to Dick Tillman's book, "The Complete Book of Laser Sailing". The first boat was not numbered and was later called hull number "0". It was owned by Kirby until he donated it to The Mystic Seaport Museum in CT where it is on display today.

That's the same boat. The same picture and drawing are in Tillman's book. The forward by Kirby is really interesting historically. Another tidbit...the color of the first boat came to be called "awful orange" after many years of oxidation.
