What did the wind blow in Sunday on the Elizabeth River? Mayhem, some awesome racing and a bunch of unbelievable screaming reaches.

Hampton Roads Sailing saw four Lasers on the line, plus a Tazer and a 29er -- Mike, Zach, you guys were the envy while you were upright. After a message the week before about roasting in wetsuits, a 20-knot north-northwesterly wind and 60-degree temperatures put everyone right back in the cooler. Thanks Kevin for running the RC duties. The screaming wind and rough chop made organization difficult. Four (pretty much) races were run before the turtled boats and winterized muscles called it a day.

That’s when the real fun kicked in for the REACHERS. A few trips out to the coal piers made up for a lot.

It wasn’t all smooth sailing, though. The chop set the pin loose during the racing and a dolly took a beating in the shorebreak. (We’ll make good on the missing mushroom and the dolly fitting.)

There’s no need to feel like the fun is passing you by. We have at least one more date in store – this coming Sunday. Leon will send out the details. Don’t forget, if you are on Facebook, you can go to Hampton Roads Sailing to check up on the action.
