Best way to buy spars

What is the best way to buy a radial set of spars to keep for racing. The original ones are looking like their days are numbered and I don't want them to tear a new racing sail when they break. I have seen lots of complaints about spar quality so whats a good move???
 
I don't think there is "a good move". If you want legal spars, there is only one manufacturer for the country that you live in. Buying UK or Aussie spars and bringing them to the US (or the other way around) is going to be frightfully expensive. And 'non-compete' agreements between the different Laser manufacturers actually prohibit that sort of thing.

Intensity Sails sells a lower spar for the radial (and an upper), but those are not Class legal. However, if you aren't into 'sanctioned' (District level and up) racing, they are an option to consider.
 
Hope for the best and plan for the worst, all you can do is inspect them before you head out and if they are no good swap them out.
