One reason you may not have gotten a response so far is that this topic has been covered a lot. Just search the forum a bit and you will find several threads.
In the US, many prefer the Black Diamond tiller from Acme with the Acme extension (both are 'carbon').
Many UK sailors seem to be happy with the Rooster equivalents.

UK sailor here.
I love the Rooster flat carbon tiller and their 22mm extension. I would not have anything else on a Laser.
It sits low, doesn't flex and is practically indestructable!
The Laser effort is very poor (IMO) and I have seen a lot snap (that and they just don't fit the stock).
