Not the best photos, but I found these online. They should give you an idea. For a boat that old, you may have to drill a hole in the boat for the screw holder.
Fits snug into the cut-out area on the bottom side:
Stem goes through the drain hole with the rubber stopper installed:
It fits the roughly triangular (I think it's parabolic actually) recess on the bottom just behind the cockpit. You can't really miss it. (And the package should include pretty good installing instructions.)
Not many pictures available of it fitted. I guess it's either too self-evident, or visually uninteresting...
Are you really intending to have a 5 year old sail a Laser? I would think even with 4.7 rig it would be totally unmanageable.
Is it actually a Laser. Or is it a Laser Pico? This site is all about the Laser Dinghy (4m long) with standard, radial, or 4.7 rigs.
All answers so far relate to standard laser hull as that is what this forum is primarily for

It is a std 4 M Laser. We will put him in it when he is ready ~ sometime 8 - 14 years old. In the meantime, he is learning on a 30 ft Catalina.
The Laser fell in our laps so we are repairing it as time permits. I am retired and he is willing to work with granpa.
