Re: Centreboard wont stay up Very good suggestion. Come to think of it, the front of my centerboard trunk is very worn down, so I guess I have to really cake the glass on there. Thank you for the suggestion!!! Yahtsman Not Sailor

Upwind in light air for heavy weight sailor

Tacking is the hardest part. There are many different methods, two extremes are 1. prior to the tack, work back to a position with your legs in the cockpit, then as you start the tack you actually "kick" the boat forward by pushing your feet against the front of the cockpit and still sit on...

    Car Topping For A Laser??

Ward Bell, 105 year old laser sailor, used to put an attachment on the front roof rack, which extended it out further to one side. Lift the bow (deck down) onto the front rack extension, then lift the transom up and onto the rear rack. I personally just have very wide racks 80" off center(I...

Upwind in light air for heavy weight sailor

My Dad was 250lb, and called himself the "Sumo Express". Once he became practiced and disciplined at sitting forward, he could keep up in light air, at least not lose. Its okay to have 2 tiller extension lengths, 1 for light (longer) and 1 for heavy. Also, spend a lot of time stretching your...

    O-ring dimension

I would get longer thinner ones, about 2x, cut some notches deeper in ridge of the bailer. They retained their "bunginess" better and lasted a lot longer. Dont forget the silicon around the edge of the bailer (takes a few try's to get it nice) really gets the water sluurping out.....

    Centreboard won't stay up

Re: Centreboard wont stay up another fast eddy tip. Squeeze the rubber stop together and screw it in with an abundance of 5200, so the overflow glues the stop in place with a good pinch on the back of the blade....

    traveller block in middle

My current tiller is round as well, but carbon. I always use a Kevlar Travelar, even made my own line with Kevlar Core and Yale Light Sheath (for decreased wear on aluminum travelar eyes). When it is light and lumpy, wind speed variations between 3-10, I would cross my mainsheet, because the...
